Every maker has early pieces: the first bowls that came off the wheel a little heavy, the glaze test that ran further than planned, the vase that leaned. Most studios keep them on a back shelf. We decided to share them.
What the Studio Study collection is
Studio Study pieces are early and experimental work from Maria's studio in Portugal. Maria shaped them by hand, many during her ceramics training. They may show small irregularities from the learning process, and each listing says so.
Why share them
Because they are honest. You can see a maker finding her way. A few were painted by Maria's young son after she shaped them, and they carry that joy too.
How to choose one
Read the listing and look at all the photos: they show the piece exactly as it is. If you want a closer look at a particular mark before buying, ask us and we'll send more photos.
